Geltside BBQ's are the perfect choice for corporate events, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, fetes, galas, festivals, large functions, christenings, garden and Christmas parties.
Our hog, beef and lamb roasts are cooked at our HQ, transported to the venue and cooked for a further hour and served hot either indoors or outdoors! We only use locally produced meat and veg to produce our delicious BBQ's.
The whole hog roast is an increasingly popular form of catering medium to large events and with good reason. Not only are they great tasting and an interesting focal and talking point at any event but they connect with our own past; in medieval and early kitchens, the Spit roast was the preferred method of cooking meat in a large household. A servant, usually a boy, sat near the spit turning the metal rod slowly cooking the food; he was known as the 'spit boy' or 'spit jack'.

Welcome to Geltside Barbecues & Spit Roasts
What is a spit roast?
The spit roast is a style of roasting where meat is skewered on a spit with a long solid rod used to hold the hog, lamb or beef whilst it rotates and cooks over a fire or using specialised equipment.
A pig or hog cooked by the spit roasting method is commonly described as a 'hog roast', see the picture above.
Spit roasting is most commonly used for cooking large joints of meat or entire animals, such as the hog, beef & lamb roast.
The rotation of a spit roast cooks the meat evenly in its own juices and allows easy access for continuous basting if desired.
